Completion requirements

The Graduate Diploma of Professional Archaeology is a 120-credit point course that consists of:• Successful completion of 90 credit points of disciplinary core subjects; and• Successful completion of 30 credit points of elective subjects chosen from a prescribed Elective List.

Course intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:
1.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills for work as professional archaeologist
2.
Apply a broad understanding of the theory and practice of cultural heritage management
3.
Employ specialist knowledge and skills in field methods, analysis and interpretation in Aboriginal and historic archaeology in Australia

Career outcomes

Graduates are expected to find employment with commercial archaeology firms in Victoria and interstate, a sector which employs approximately 250 people in Victoria.
