To qualify for the award of Bachelor of Nursing (Enrolled Nurse pathway), students must complete 360 credit points consisting of: 120 advanced standing credit points 225 core credit-points (including 800 hours of clinical placement) 15 elective credit-points

On successful completion you will be able to:

Exhibit inclusive and responsive professional nursing practice that respects individuals from diverse backgrounds with sensitivity to culture, values and beliefs.
2.
Critically review and analyse professional nursing practice and other information to synthesise knowledge to advance the profession both individually and as a community.
3.
Employ evidence-based frameworks to inform systematic and comprehensive person-centred health and wellbeing assessment in partnership with people across a variety of health care settings.
4.
Participate in or lead collaborative practice in intra-professional and interprofessional teams to promote optimal health outcomes.
5.
Demonstrate therapeutic communication strategies in professional relationships with people, families, and colleagues.
6.
Demonstrate ability to pursue ongoing professional learning and development for self and others through feedback, reflection, and action.

Course features

Work based learning (placement) requirements

Compulsory placements (Work Based Learning)
During this course, you will participate in one or more supervised Work Based Learning (WBL) placements designed to allow you to practice newly acquired skills, behaviours and knowledge while integrating theory with practice. The placements will immerse you in professional work culture, enabling you to develop and further enhance your skills. WBL provides you with the opportunity to gain valuable industry experience at one or more of our local, interstate or international industry partners or agencies. WBL placements will generally be arranged by the University based Placements Operation Team or Experiential Learning Team at La Trobe University. The number of hours undertaken can vary considerably, depending on the requirements of the course. Students may incur additional costs and it may be necessary to travel or relocate to complete a specific placement. Please refer to the individual subject entries for more information.

Professional recognition

The Bachelor of Nursing is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC). Graduates of the Bachelor of Nursing may be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
