Overview

This course gives graduate physiotherapists an opportunity to develop advanced theoretical and applied skills in sports physiotherapy, critical evaluation of relevant literature and research design. The flexible design of this course allows students to continue clinical work while studying.

To qualify for the award of Graduate Certificate in Sports Physiotherapy, students must complete 60 credit points consisting of: 60 core credit-points

Course intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:

Apply advanced knowledge and skills in the practice of sports physiotherapy

Critically review, analyse and synthesize clinical and research evidence to find solutions for common sports-related injuries and problems
3.
Communicate in written and oral formats advanced technical knowledge and theoretical concepts in sports physiotherapy to lay and expert audiences
4.
Apply sports physiotherapy knowledge and skills to make high level independent judgments, and execute and evaluate non-specialist management plans
5.
Work effectively and accountably within areas of professional responsibility, independently and in the environments of sporting teams

Career outcomes

Physiotherapists are employed in a wide variety of settings, including private practice, general hospitals, rehabilitation centres, community health centres, industrial clinics and specialist centres. Physiotherapists assist both male and female patients with a wide variety of disorders and across the life span. Opportunities also exist in physiotherapy education and in research.
