User experience (UX) refers to how a user feels when interacting with a digital or physical product. UX design is the process of designing products by analysing and understanding users# needs. UX evaluation is to utilise a collection of methods and tools to uncover how users perceive a product. UX design and evaluation are important for product design because they can enhance overall user satisfaction. This subject will introduce students to the main theories, methods and techniques that are applied to UX design and evaluation. Main topics include design thinking, user research analysis, iteration and prototyping, and user testing. Based on these UX theories and techniques, students will create mobile prototypes with wireframe tools (e.g. Adobe XD) and evaluate them with UX testing methods (e.g. usability-lab studies) in practice classes and assignments.
Capstones provide students with a way of integrating and applying knowledge and skills gained throughout their course.
