Subject intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:
1.
Explain the role of accounting information in organisational decision-making and accountability.
2.
Explain and discuss the ethical, professional, organisational, and social contexts within which accounting is practiced.
3.
Apply sustainability in the accounting context.
4.
Apply relevant accounting standards and the conceptual framework to record accounting transactions.
5.
Produce a set of simple financial accounts from basic transaction and financial data.
6.
Explain and critique some of the accounting conventions underlying the production of accounts.

Learning activities

Students will prepare answers to pre-workshop questions.  These will either be further explored via case studies during the workshop or consolidated and expanded during the workshops. Assessment tasks review the theory components and the practical application of the theory.
