In this subject you will evaluate the influence of sedentary behaviour and physical activity behaviours on chronic diseases. You will use key determinants of health to identify people at risk of insufficient physical activity and sedentary behaviour. With reference to current research, you will appraise a range of physical activity guidelines as they relate to people across the lifespan. You will develop an understanding of how individual and population health can be influenced by the health care system and public policy, and settings in which practitioners can work to assist communities to address physical activity needs. You will design a basic population intervention, based on best practice, to increase physical activity and reduce sedentary behaviour.
Capstones provide students with a way of integrating and applying knowledge and skills gained throughout their course.
