Learning activities

Weekly lectures introduce students to the kinds of information that will enable them to write, edit and design compelling stories. Weekly lectures will be devoted to advanced journalism research skills and will be required to source interview subjects and locate appropriate archival sources in the writing of news and feature articles for assessment. This is reinforced through exercises in class and feedback on assessment tasks. In weekly workshops students are introduced to the industry standard software used in the production of magazines, such as InDesign and Photoshop. In lectures they will also be exposed to elements that will guide their final production, such as layout principles and colour theory.
