Handbook

This online subject will address the advancing contemporary health and health care challenges presented by dementia. It will enable participating students to gain a holistic understanding of dementia in society and as a life limiting illness. Through the use of current research, policy and practice, students will learn about the emerging evidence and requirements for best practice in caring for older people with dementia in hospital settings. Students will also learn about the interprofessional and person-centred approaches that support people with dementia and their families through the life cycle transitions that arise through the dementia journey. Students will be engaged in a learning approach that will be interactive, inquiry and evidenced based. Interprofessional and person-centred approaches to dementia care will be introduced. The subject will be offered as an elective and will be delivered through the online medium over 12 weeks.
