In this subject you will explore solid material surfaces and inter faces, which are key to modern manufactured materials and devices. You will investigate the elemental, chemical and molecular properties of materials relevant to adhesion, biocompatibility and environmental protection, sensing and devices . You will investigate industrially important characterisation and data analysis techniques including surface analytical techniques, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry, and Auger Electron Spectroscopy, and related synchrotron techniques.
