Overview

In this subject, students develop further skills in oral and written communication in Chinese and are introduced to the more complex grammatical structures of the language. Topics include talking about the weather, dining, asking for directions, organizing a birthday party and seeing a doctor, with an emphasis on expanding vocabulary … For more content click the Read more button below. Students who successfully complete this subject are encouraged to enrol in CHI2004 in the second semester. It is also recommended that students majoring in Chinese enrol in AST3001 in the second semester as a third-year core choice subject.

Learning activities

Textbook learning, short dialogue based on given topics, role-plays and pair-work, sentence construction, short essay writing and comparative Chinese-English translation.
