Subject intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:

Understand selected key texts of Chinese culture and civilisation such as works of literature, poetry, narratives and movies, within their historical context, and acquire a basic understanding of traditional and modern Chinese culture and civilisation, learning to appreciate the differences between classical and modern Chinese and the changes in modern China.

Critically think about Chinese traditional and modern culture and civilisation and demonstrate understanding in written tasks that demonstrate improved writing skills.
3.
Read and write utilising an expanded range of vocabulary

Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the modern popular cultures and communications in China

Learning activities

Primary Chinese and English text reading materials on relevant topics, viewing desktop and mobile internet resources, short passages and essay writing and translation with given topics.  Dialogue, conversation and in-class discussions, cross-cultural communications.
