Subject intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:
1.
Demonstrate understanding of the social and economic life in Chinese society in Taiwan.
2.
Demonstrate knowledge of and write traditional and simplified characters and appreciate the varieties of Chinese culture, tradition and civilisation.
3.
Communicate competently in topics of everyday interest in Chinese and Australian society, and demonstrate consolidated skills in simple correspondence and expository writing.
4.
Perform basic analysis and synthesis, and to develop and evaluate simple arguments, as well as use a bilingual paper based and online based dictionaries correctly.
5.
Work as part of a team in class role play activities and presentation.
6.
Write functional sentences using appropriate structure with correct grammar in Chinese

Learning activities

Listening, reading new textbook materials, cultural creation and oral activities including conversations with given topics, role play, discussion and debates. More, comparison in Chinese-English translation, sentence making with new vocabulary and sentence patterns, writing practice in different forms including dialogue, comment, letters and essay.
