Subject intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:

Demonstrate an understanding of the legal and ethical framework in which they are expected to work as a professional in the media industry and as representatives of La Trobe University on student placement.
2.
Develop practical employability skills through securing a professional internship placement.
3.
Apply professional communication skills developed across their La Trobe course to a professional workplace.
4.
Demonstrate knowledge of and sensitivity to issues associated with workplace culture including, professional expectations, ethics, social and cultural diversity and personal responsibility.
5.
Engage in independent learning and demonstrate self-awareness through active reflection.

Learning activities

Students explore the legal and ethical framework in which they expected to work as a professional in the media industry and as representatives of La Trobe University on student placement, by completing a series of online modules. Students develop employability skills through working on their resume and cover letter, guided through the online modules, and use these to help secure a relevant internship. 120 hours of student placement in an approved workplace. Students complete a work diary and reflective essay that critically reflects on their internship, its contribution to their learning and how it will inform their ongoing practice. Students complete a work diary and reflective essay that critically reflects on their internship, its contribution to their learning and how it will inform their ongoing practice.
