Subject intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:
1.
Apply knowledge of the physiology of the puerperium to perform a comprehensive assessment, and provide safe and effective midwifery care to the woman during the postnatal period according to the scope of practice of the midwife.
2.
Apply knowledge of the physiology of the newborn to perform a comprehensive assessment, and provide safe and effective midwifery care to the newborn baby during the postnatal period according to the scope of practice of the midwife
3.
Provide contemporary best practice information, assistance and advice to the woman on nutrition needs and feeding of her infant
4.
Apply best practice evidence to support and educate mothers and families during the postnatal period
