On successful completion you will be able to:

Demonstrate an understanding of the notion of a taxonomy of mental disorders, with particular reference to the rationale, structure, content and limitations of the DSM system
2.
Develop and apply a practical understanding of the symptoms and psychopathology of major psychiatric disorders
3.
Gain insight into, and empathy for, the personal experience of those who are affected by psychological problems
4.
Develop skill in conducting and appraising semi-structured diagnostic interviews that routinely consider differential diagnoses, age specific features, and common comorbidities.
5.
Integrate cultural considerations in assessment and diagnosis.
