Subject intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:
1.
Critically evaluate the strengths and weakness of a specific research design and a data analytic procedure and choose suitable methods to address psychological questions.
2.
Plan and conduct data analysis, including conducting power analysis, data preparation, and testing assumptions.
3.
Organise and report analytic procedures and outcomes effectively and appropriately for scientific communication.
4.
Demonstrate an understanding of methodological and ethical issues associated with quantitative and qualitative research and cross-cultural investigation.

Learning activities

You will participate in weekly seminars in realtime, complete online modules and submit short reports on three of the topics provided, as well as be assessed on your learning with two online tests covering weekly learning material. You will also participate in a peer review assignment over several weeks that involves critically examining the methods used to investigate a variety of research questions in psychology.

Prerequisites: Students must be admitted in one of the following courses: SHPS, SHPSB, SHPSW, SHPSO; OR Students must have completed 360 credit points in SHP, SHPYB, SHPYW, or SHPO.
