Overview

The primary focus of this subject is the development of higher level classification skills to a level of competency that qualifies you professionally, as a workforce entry-level clinical/medical coder. You will gain familiarity in searching for and applying ratified coding advice to your code assignment. You will further develop your … For more content click the Read more button below. The second focus is the health classification-financial relationship within the context of Activity Based Funding and the National Funding Model. You will develop a deeper understanding of the classification system by examining Diagnostic-Related Group (DRG) and National Weighted Activity Unit (NWAU) assignment. You will have some exposure to State and Territory specific guidelines relevant to admitted care data items which can impact on coding. This subject is graded only as a Pass (P) or Fail (F). A mark of 75% or greater is required to achieve a Pass grade in line with industry standards and expectations.
