On successful completion you will be able to:
1.
Apply, with judgment, a critical social work lens to practice and apply other theories to practice when using these skills with individuals, families, groups or communities.
2.
Appraise personal ideas and values in relation to theory to improve client outcomes.
3.
Reflect on a First Nations perspective on ways of knowing, being and doing.
4.
Analyse theoretical concepts and social work practice skills to distinguish effective group work including group facilitation.
5.
Formulate clear and effective social work interviews, to develop intervention plans and appropriate documentation.

Learning activities

Learning activities include: Weekly reading materials and lectures and in-depth class/group discussion, role plays – completion of on-line activities in preparation for tutorials each week.

Prerequisites: Students must be admitted in one of the following courses: HHSW, HHSWB, HHSWW, HHSWP, HHSWMI; OR Students must be admitted in one of the following courses: HZSK, HZSKB, HZSKW, HZSKM, HZSKP.
