Overview

This subject will provide you with the skills, knowledge and attitudes required by Registered Nurses in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of person-centred care for people experiencing simple common acute illness requiring hospitalisation.  You will examine communication and other strategies to facilitate safe interactions in the healthcare context. The three-week clinical placement will allow you to integrate theoretical principles to the nursing practice of patients that is underpinned by nursing theory. In this placement you will undertake health assessments with assigned patients and use the data obtained to develop person-centred plans of care considering principles of personal and patient safety and interprofessional practice in acute and subacute inpatient care settings. This subject will also introduce students to ethics and law as it relates to nursing practice.
