Subject intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:

Critically review the historical, institutional, ideological and environmental contexts that shape Australian social policies

Analyse contemporary social policy using policy analysis frameworks and social work values
3.
Apply relevant knowledge to inform policy development and change
4.
Integrate knowledge of policy and advocacy theory to formulate alternative policy responses and advocacy strategies.

Learning activities

Learning activities include: Weekly reading materials and on-line lectures and in-depth class/group discussion – completion of on-line activities in preparation for tutorials each week.

Prerequisites: Must be admitted in one of the following courses: HHSW, HHSWB, HHSWW, HHSWP, HHSWMI (Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) All others require coordinator's approval
