Subject intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:
1.
Plan, provide and reflect on woman-centred midwifery care with women, their families and the interprofessional team during the postnatal period.
2.
Plan and apply evidence-based information to assist and advise the woman on nutrition needs and feeding of her infant
3.
Promote breastfeeding in accordance with the principles of the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative
4.
Discuss information about screening tests and immunisation for the infant
5.
Devise and demonstrate education opportunities for mothers and families during the postnatal period
6.
Plan, provide and apply safe and effective neonatal care in the postnatal ward setting and special care nursery, including collaborative care for those infants who are premature, sick, or “at risk”
