In this subject you will build on the knowledge and skills acquired in previous subjects and in your first field placement. In this final year of study, you will focus on extending your ability to integrate a critical theory perspective as well as other key theoretical approaches to social work practice at a deeper level. On completion, you will have been provided with the opportunity to work more confidently with individuals and families experiencing complex problems. You will further analyse practice using critically reflective processes, knowledge and skills. You will actively engage in seminar groups including role plays and will be expected to play an active part in group development and maintenance. Professional accreditation requires a minimum level of fieldwork practice. Your attendance at workshops in this subject will contribute to meeting this requirement for professional recognition as a social worker.
