Various management systems are employed in construction projects. This subject will introduce you to the primary management systems used in the construction industry. These include quality, environmental and safety management systems. You will learn to develop and integrate management plans required for the effective and efficient management of construction and engineering projects. Through application you will further your knowledge of the various systems and compliance requirements, with consideration of local and international quality standards, regulation and environmental and safety codes of practice. You will further develop and apply your learning to material and plant management, essential in building and infrastructure projects.
Capstones provide students with a way of integrating and applying knowledge and skills gained throughout their course.

On successful completion you will be able to:

Analyse relevant legislation and associated standards with various management systems such as QMS; EMS; and SMS.
2.
Analyse key processes and framework for QMS, EMS and SMS and assess implications for implementation.
3.
Develop an effective QMS plan to enhance project quality at corporate and project level.
4.
Develop an effective SMS plan compliant with the relevant legislation by conducting hazard identification and risk assessment.
5.
Apply advanced process management strategies to effectively manage environmental performance issues associated with specific projects.
