Subject intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:
1.
Formulate a critical argument on the social, cultural and political issues in contemporary China.
2.
Review relevant disciplinary literature and explain the social, cultural and political issues in contemporary Chinese society.
3.
Use Chinese language to make a preliminary social science inquiry in the topics regarding contemporary Chinese social, cultural and political issues.
4.
Work with a partner or as part of a team to communicate in oral and written formats
5.
Develop lines of argument, and orientation in Chinese-English two way translation practice

Learning activities

In-class activities include literature reviews, vocabulary and grammar exercises, presentations, orientation in research essay writing, as well as Chinese to English and English to Chinese translation exercises.
