Subject intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:
1.
Speak in summarily form of articles that show an understanding of the current issues occurred in both Australia and overseas in Mandarin.
2.
Write short pieces of work that show an understanding of the daily issues from newspapers and other forms of media.
3.
Consolidate skills in simple correspondence and expository writing.
4.
Carry out an analysis and synthesis and evaluate simple arguments in Chinese.
5.
Write a short and fluent essay and use appropriate structures with correct grammar in Chinese.

Learning activities

Listening, reading new textbook materials, cultural creation and oral activities including conversations with given topics, role play, discussion and debates. Comparison in Chinese-English translation, sentence making with new vocabulary and sentence patterns, writing practice in different forms including dialogue, comment, letters and essay.
