This subject will focus on specialist areas of dietetic practice and the importance of lifelong learning so you are prepared to tackle future-focused challenges and work in new ways, incorporating novel technologies and emerging science and evidence into your practice. In this subject, you will further develop practice skills related to leadership, advocacy, conflict resolution and teamwork.
This subject includes core content that focuses on two future-ready issues for the Dietetics profession: environmental sustainability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait-Islander health. This core content will encourage you to consider the future of dietetic practice and identify opportunities and advocate for change to the wider social, cultural, political, and environmental issues to improve nutrition and the food system. Further, this content will also consolidate your understanding of the ways in which education and health systems can impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People’s health with a view to bridging the gaps that currently exist in health outcomes.
In addition to undertaking core content, in this subject you will undertake additional, in depth study in a specialised area of dietetic practice, which may include areas such as: Sports Nutrition, Eating Disorders or Paediatric Dietetics.
