Subject intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:
1.
Understand and evaluate approaches to health education and communication.
2.
Demonstrate practical skills, including teamwork, when working with the media (i.e., obtaining media coverage, writing press releases, and writing materials for dissemination via social media platforms) and delivering health education.
3.
Describe and apply theoretical models/frameworks of communication (e.g. the World Health Organization Strategic Communications Framework, the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention Communication Planning Toolkit and risk communication) taking ethical, equity and culturally appropriate lenses.
4.
Critique and design health education and communication campaigns to address population or community health issues and inequities.
5.
Use a range of health communication skills to mediate, advocate and enable enhanced health and wellbeing for diverse communities and populations
